Day 1

So I'm in Amsterdam and I've done nothing but sit on my behind all day long. The dinner on the plane was not bad. It was terraki chicken with rice, carrots, salad, and crackers. I did a little homework and watched Kung Fu Panda. Amsterdam airport is ok. I thought the Detroit airport was better because it had a tram that ran back and forth that was bright red and really hard to miss. Amsterdam is the first European county I've been in and the airport isn't all that great. I'm leaving for Kenya in about 2 hours and 15 min. I'll be on the plane until 7:40 pm in Kenya, which is Monday morning in Denver. So far the trip's been great and the flights have been boring.

More to come on Monday.

Day 0

One day until we leave. We are finally all packed and are ready to go. I am so excited that I just want to go to the airport now so that I'm sure that I don't miss the flight even though we don't leave until tomorrow at 11:15. If you think that all the luggage in the pic is a lot for 2 people then you are right. But think about this, 75% of all that stuff is staying down in Kenya. What is going to be weird is the fact that I am not going to leave the airport with my dad like I have the last 2 times. I have a 1 hour 10 min layover in Detroit and we have to cover the entire airport in the time. Pray that we make it.
Well tootles for now,
Justin

Day -1

We have two days until we leave and I feel like I am in a dream. I feel like I am going to wake up and find out that I'm not going to Kenya. I am nervous and excited at the same time. We leave in 36 hours and then go to Detroit and then to Amsterdam. After that we are in Kenya and won't come back for 10 days. To all my teachers and friends at school I will miss you and think about you all the time. I will try to put together a slide show so I can show you all the pics from Africa. To my teachers lets just say that the homework load that I have is a little more then I would have preferred. I will put pics of me on with my blog and all the kids that we will see down there.
Well all for now check back tomorrow for more,
Justin

Day -2

------------------->

Three days until we leave and we still aren't packed. This is going to be a close one in terms of packing. For all of you that think I'm lucky I have a 24 hour flight just to get to Kenya and a 26 hour flight just to get home. I have to do all my homework on the plane and then there is all the jet lag to throw in there. The cool thing is that there are going to be movies on the plane from Detroit to Amsterdam and Amsterdam to Kenya. Did you know that Barack Obama is Kenyan? That is so cool since we are going down there right after the DNC. Well that is all for now check back tomorrow for more about the flight schedule.

Day -3

We have 4 days until we leave and i am very excited. We still have yet to finish packing :( so that could be a problem but i am sure that we will pull it off. We leave at 11:30 on Sunday and it is a 24 hour flight. Teachers I promise to do a lot of homework on the plane ;). We are going to take a bunch of stuff down to the kids over there and it is cool stuff. We will take stuff like sharpeners, crayons, maps, markers, books, and backpacks. It is insane how cool some of this stuff is. We come home the 9th of September. Check daily to see updates of my trip including the days before leading up to the trip. See ya!!!!!!
P.S. If you think that our lunch cleanup is bad take a look at the picture to the right of this post.
